A submarine that organized a tour to the wreckage of the Titanic, charging $250,000 per person, has reportedly faced a similar fate as the Titanic itself. Recent information regarding the highly discussed tour, known as the “Lost Titan Submarine,” has emerged on social media. The US Coast Guard, which discovered five major wreckage pieces, has stated that the tourists may have lost their lives.
Titan submarine expedition may have cost lives
Significant findings were made during the search operations initiated a few days ago. The first noteworthy discovery was the retrieval of the submarine’s nose, located outside the pressurized hull. This wreckage piece indicated that a real disaster might have occurred.
Shortly afterward, search teams came across another wreckage, which contained a large portion of the pressurized hull. The US Coast Guard, claiming to have found a total of five major wreckage pieces, expressed a high probability of the tourists aboard the submarine having perished.
The investigation is ongoing. Officials are working to analyze the wreckage and gather available information that may shed light on the tragic incident. As the wreckage area is being thoroughly mapped, the search and rescue operation is expected to continue.
The US Coast Guard initiated the search on Thursday, and the parts of the submarine, named Titan, were found approximately 488 meters away from the bow of the Titanic.
A complete dive to the wreckage, including descent and ascent, was estimated to take around eight hours. However, control was lost near the vicinity of the Titanic, and the team’s oxygen levels depleted.
